British Council is aiming to engage with its students in more accessible areas for them, reaching new locations apart from its traditional headquarter. The new centre, located in the City Gate South Tower, provides solutions to the current challenges, offering parking, modern spaces, proximity to residential areas, and other facilities.
"The respected British Council is a treasured tenant at the City Gate South Tower, and we are pleased to welcome them. We take immense pride in our partnership, and we are committed to providing them with world-class real estate solutions. Their choice to locate one of their centers in our cutting-edge facility demonstrates their confidence in GTC Romania's ability to provide top-notch real estate solutions. Our state-of-the-art facilities and unwavering commitment to excellence have enabled us to attract some of the most respected tenants from across various industries. We look forward to continuing this journey together and offering exceptional services that exceed their expectations”, stated Ziv Gigi, GTC’s Executive Director for the SEE region.
Located in Piața Presei Libere 3-5, in the highest income district of Bucharest, with over 300,000 inhabitants, City Gate South Tower is a prime location, with LEED GOLD Certification. The office building benefits from high visibility and good accessibility from other areas in the city, due to both the public transportation options and the local infrastructure that connects it to the centre of Bucharest and also to the exit ways from the North. The City Gate complex also has one of the largest car parks in the city with over 1000 parking spaces.
„At the British Council, we are committed to making it easier for our customers to benefit from our services. The City Gate South Tower's infrastructure, amenities and strategic location, supported by excellent road and transport links, made it an ideal choice for us when considering where to expand our presence. The tower's contemporary feel is complimented by a design which takes into account accessibility and the highest safety standards; all of which aligns well with the importance the British Council attaches to inclusivity, safeguarding and the creation of secure, inspiring learning environments. CBRE was a fantastic partner that took the time to fully understand our needs and deliver on them. Their expertise stood out throughout the whole process and I am convinced helped us to find the best solution for us and our customers”, stated Christopher Holmes, Director Teaching, British Council.
The City Gate complex has three major hotels nearby, various on-site retail options such as restaurants, grocery stores, gym and a medical center. It is also 15 minutes away from the main airport in Bucharest - Henri Coanda.
„British Council is a well-established name worldwide and excellence was the keyword of this project and also a common value that we both share. The client needed a location adapted to its new approach, a concept that would respond to current challenges. They needed to make a statement. We are proud that the CBRE team was able to advise the British Council in choosing the best location for their new teaching centre, where they will benefit from real quality spaces adapted specially for teaching English to kids starting from 3 years old, as well as adults and corporate clients. It was a project close to my heart, as I could offer my input both as an expert in real estate and as a new mother. So, I am proud that together with our client, the British Council, we are offering to the community a new modern space for studying, in a landmark office building in Bucharest, City Gate”, stated Anca Păuna, Senior Consultant A&T Services | Office, CBRE Romania.
The City Gate South Tower serves as a hub for successful businesses and creates an inspiring atmosphere for growth and productivity. The British Council's presence will contribute to the City Gate rich ecosystem and foster a truly international environment for professionals, visitors, and tenants alike.
The City Gate Complex has a total leasable area of 47,700 square meters and consists of two tower buildings (ground floor + 18 stories), located in the Piața Presei Libere area. The LEED GOLD Certification of both towers attests to GTC's dedication to sustainable growth, ethical construction, and asset management. Last year, the Complex underwent a thorough renovation process following a 3.5-million-euro investment. The buildings benefited from enhancements both inside and out, such as upgrades to the lobby, the main reception areas, and various structures and amenities.
Promoting educational opportunities and intercultural understanding, with over 10,000 students in the last 2 years, British Council will continue to develop its current approach to engage more with its students of all ages. Also assisted by CBRE, British Council will open a second similar centre in District 6, in another location that is very well connected to the city’s infrastructure. The two new centres will open their gates in autumn 2023.
