According to the study, 43.2% of Bucharest office employees rejected a potential employer because of its office's uninspired design and because of the lack of facilities. Moreover, the study shows that 47.8% of Bucharest employees have dropped out of work because of the unpleasant experience and disagreeable design in the office.

More than half of Bucharest's employees (55.2%) consider that their work environment provides only the basic aspects needed to carry out their work, which means that employers only provide the minimum workload required and nothing more to support needs and performance.

The study also found that nearly 28% of respondents reported that their offices are best described by minimum investment and superficial planning, leaving the impression that employers do not care about comfort, satisfaction or productivity of their staff. More than 30% of employees say that the greatest potential for improving collaboration has space for informal discussion and relaxation, as well as work in brainstorming rooms with a more creative design.

Asking which would be the most desirable workspace facilities to optimize the experience, the first two options were: creative relaxing places (31.2% of respondents) and quiet working rooms (22.4% of respondents). The most wanted improvements were: better lighting (33.8% of respondents), more colorful rooms, decorated or graphic design elements (almost 30% of respondents) and more green space (40% of respondents).

At the macro level, these concerns indicate that employees working in Romanian offices feel the need for more spaces dedicated to collaborative work and rooms to provide more inspiration. The need for more color, plus the need for more green space, suggests that the local market needs to come up with a more dynamic solution.

Dan Zakai, CEO and co-founder of Mindspace, said: "It's interesting to note that many of Bucharest's employees choose their workplace according to what their workspace looks like, and based on the feelings of the office. This is the main reason for employers to place more emphasis on the aesthetics of the office and on maintaining a space that promotes collaborative work instead of focusing only on practical issues. This could be the safest way to attract and, most importantly, keep the most talented people entering their companies. "

Mindspace, the world's leading provider of co-working solutions, opens in Bucharest 3 spaces designed to inspire teams and help them grow. Mindspace comes with all-inclusive spaces for teams of all sizes.
Founded in 2014 by Dan Zakai and Yotam Alroy, Mindspace operates 28 workspaces in Europe in cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Warsaw and London.

The study was conducted by OnePoll at the request of Mindspace. It took place between 28 August and 28 September 2018 and analyzed the responses of 500 respondents, of whom 70.8% aged between 25 and 44, all employed in Bucharest. (source: constructiv.ro)
