As previously stated, the German chain invests between EUR 6 and 9 million when it opens a new store, depending on location, value of the land and surface of the store.

 

Since the start of the year Kaufland has opened 12 hypermarkets, four of which in Bucharest, two in Oradea and one in Arad, Bacau, Targu Mures, Targoviste, Vatra Dornei, Gherla.

 

Kaufland is the largest retailer in Romania by value of sales, bigger than Metro Cash&Carry, Auchan and Carrefour. It also employs 12,700 people and posted a 20 percent increase in profit last year, to RON 331 million (EUR 75 million). (source: business-review.eu)
