IT company Luxoft hires 100 and plans to open centre outside Bucharest

IT services provider Luxoft Romania, one of the top 10 players in the local software market, has over 100 open positions and will hire at least 100 people, according to Bogdan Pelinescu, the company’s general manager.

Lower average net salary in Romania in May

The average net salary in Romania amounted to RON 1,806 (EUR 406) in May this year, 2.7% lower than in April. Compared to May 2014, the average net wage increased by 7.4%, according to recent data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

Romania’s minimum gross wage increases to RON 1,050 in July

Following a Government decision that entered into force in December 2014, the gross minimum wage will increase in July from RON 975 to 1,050 (EUR 218 to 235), shows a Mediafax article. This is the second rise this year, after in January the guaranteed gross minimum salary was increased from RON 900 to 975.

Unemployment rate increased to 7.4 pct during first quarter

The employment rate for population aged 20‐64 during the first quarter was at 63.7 percent, according to a press release from the National Statistics Institute (INS). This is over 6 points lower than the national target of 70 percent established in the context of the 2020 Europe Strategy.
