3,365 residential construction permits were issued in May, with 6.4% down compared to the precedent month and 22.1% down from the same period of last year.

66.1% from the permits issued in May are for the rural zone. The distribution in regional profile highlights a decrease of the number of residential construction permits in almost all the development regions.

The biggest decrease was registered in the following development regions: South-East (-83 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (-74 permits) and North-East (-37 permits). A growth was registered in the North-West development region.

In May 2013, compared to the same month of the last year a decrease of the residential construction permits was registered (-956 permits). The most important decrease was registered for the following development regions: North-East (-299 permits), South-East (-148 permits), South-Muntenia (-137 permits), North-West (-120 permits) and West (-104 permits).

In the first 5 months of 2013 13,832 residential construction permits were issued, with 458 permits less compared to the same period of last year. the biggest decrease was registered in the following development regions: North-East (-252 permits), South-Muntenia (-153 permits) and South –East (-130 permits).
