All the CEE member states (for which there are statistical data) have registered high decreases. The highest decrease of construction works is signaled in Hungary (26.6 percent less than in May 2015), followed by Slovenia (21.2 percent less), Poland (13.8 percent less), Slovakia (9.1 percent less), Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

 

At the European Union level (EU 28), construction works have decreased with 1.1 percent, while into the Euro area they have registered a decrease of 0.8 percent.

 

In return, in May 2016, compared to April 2016, Romania had the second decrease of the construction works in EU, 3 percent less, a superior contraction being registered only for Italy, namely 3.6 percent less. At the European Union level (EU 28), construction works have decreased with 0.7 percent, while in the Euro area they decreased with 0.5 percent.

 

According to the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the construction works volume increased with 5 percent per unadjusted series in the first five months of this year, compared to the similar period in 2015. In May, compared to April, the construction works volume increased, as an unadjusted series, with 6.2 percent.
