"Direct investment of non-residents in Romania totaled EUR 4.098 billion (compared with EUR 3,482 billion between January and October 2016), of which equity capital (including the estimated net reinvested earnings) amounted to EUR 3,439 billion and intra-group loans registered the net value of 659 million euros", says the BNR press release.
According to the National Trade Register (ONRC), the number of newly established foreign capital companies increased by 10.7% in the first ten months of this year, compared to the same period of the previous year, to 4,895 units.
The 4,895 new companies had subscribed capital totaling over $ 35.9 million, up 8.9% compared to January-October 2016.
Romania recorded in 2016 the weakest year in the last 18 years in terms of newly established foreign capital companies. Last year, 5,348 such companies were set up, down from 5,831 units in 2015. After 1991, most companies were set up in 2007, when more than 15,000 such firms were registered. On the opposite side, the lowest was in 1995 and 3,400 respectively. (source: capital.ro)
