Asked about the demolishment costs, Oprescu said despite the fact that the evaluation was not yet completed, the costs could go around EUR 4 million.

"We know there is a Court’s final and irrevocable sentence. There should be issued a decision of demolishment by the general mayor, and after that, if those who constructed wouldn’t comply, a summons should be issued. ", Oprescu said.

According to the general mayor there wasn’t yet received any request for the issue of the demolishment disposition by the City Hall.

Dambovita Court decided in September last year the demolishment of the construction Cathedral Plaza, in General Berthlot St. of Bucharest, as the building was erected without legal permit.

In 2006, The Roman Catholic Archdiocese in Bucharest sued Millennium Building Development, the building’s developer and all the State’s institution which approved the construction of an office building near "Saint Josef" Cathedral, requesting the permits revocation issued for the real estate project development, winning in the Court.

Cathedral Plaza has a rentable area of 12,500 sq m and involved an investment of EUR 40 million.

 

The building’s owner said in 2011 that the litigation with The Roman Catholic Archdiocese brought them damages of EUR 25 million. (source: dailybusiness.ro)
