Skanska's commitment to developing the safest and most sustainable buildings that promote well-being and create a healthy environment is once again strengthened with the achievement of the WELL Core & Shell certification, offered by the International WELL Building Institute. The Gold certification was now accorded to the Campus 6.2 project after Campus 6.3 had already obtained the same certification at the end of the previous year.
Just as the Campus 6.3 building, Campus 6.2 achieved optimizations in all seven categories evaluated: air, water, light, nourishment, fitness, comfort, physical and mental well-being, and innovation.
Comfort, accessibility, and well-being, all in one building
Most of the optimizations obtained were awarded for water and air quality, followed by optimizations of thermal, olfactory, auditory, and visual comfort. Campus 6.2 has also obtained an optimization for its barrier-free, inclusive and accessible design, which allows every person to navigate and use the building easily and safely.
The project also excels in terms of innovation, for which has obtained three optimizations, as well as when it comes to nourishment, promoting a healthy and nutritious diet. As already known, Campus 6.2 encourages an active lifestyle, a fact already recognized and now attested by the optimizations achieved in the fitness category for the building’s active interior and exterior design, as well as for specially designed space for sports activities such as the rooftop running track located on top of the office building, the first of its kind in Romania.
The building also supports mental well-being and productivity, achieving optimizations for promoting and increasing awareness for health and well-being, but also for its biophilic design that integrates nature into the project.
"After concluding the previous year with the Gold level certification awarded to Campus 6.3, we are starting another one with a new certification, this time achieved by Campus 6.2. We are therefore happy to receive another confirmation that, with each of our projects, we manage to constantly improve and give life to spaces where people feel good and safe. The values behind the WELL assessment are part of Skanska's values, and we can only hope that they will become a true standard for the whole market” - said Raoul Mihalca, Project Manager for Skanska CEE's business development operations.
The two Class A buildings, Campus 6.2 and 6.3, developed by Skanska, have been handed over to S IMMO AG after a 97 million euros transaction. This was Skanska's largest transaction on the Romanian market to date.
“In our purchasing decisions, we attach great importance to quality - especially with regard to ESG criteria. The Campus project has convinced us on many levels and enriched our portfolio. The certifications of Campus 6.2. confirm the high-quality standards and are a strong sign that S IMMO takes its sustainability commitment very seriously” – declared Herwig Teufelsdorfer, CIO of S IMMO AG.
The Campus 6.2 certification process was coordinated by Colliers, Green & Healthy Buildings Certification division.
„It was a wonderful and rewarding journey consulting Skanska in achieving both LEED and WELL certification for Campus 6.2 and Campus 6.3, a development that emphasizes a sustainable and people-centric integrated design approach” – added Tamara Dogariu, architect for Colliers Green & Healthy Buildings Certifications division, the WELL AP consultant who coordinated the certification process.
Achieving WELL certification at the Gold level, along with LEED Platinum and WELL Health-Safety Rating certifications, once again highlights Skanska's efforts and ongoing concern for the health, safety, and well-being of both people and the environment.
