Two of the largest commercial centres in Bucharest, AFI Cotroceni and Mega Mall, the second Ikea store in Romania, as well as several hypermarkets were or will be opened on former factories plots in Bucharest, bought in the beginning of the ‘00s by the investment fund New Century Holdings (NCH), controlled by the Romanian Siminel Andrei.
„Nowhere in the world you couldn’t find any more factories in the middle of the city, and usually the value of a factory in the middle of Bucharest is smaller than of the land where it is situated, so it is a logical decision that those spaces to be otherwise capitalized. This trend shouldn’t worry, as the cities must be built for the people, not for the factories“, considers the analyst Aurelian Dochia. (source: zf.ro)
